The door closer is meant to close a door automatically when left open. But sometimes there is a need to keep the door open at a certain angle for a time period for a variety of reasons

When there is a number of people passing through the door at a given amount of time.

When there is a need for ventilation through the door.

There is a requirement for the door to be open for visitors/audience at a gathering space as a sign of welcome.

The life of a manual stopper decreases due to the spring action of a door closer.

When a person needs to carry some object or luggage and cannot hold the door open manually.

To develop a mechanical apparatus which can act as closer and also holds/stops door whenever needed at the desired angle.
A low cost and simple design solution.
Targeting for a minimal mechanical solution that would have the least number of parts possible.
